The Alimentaria, one of the most important food, beverage and gastronomy trade fairs worldwide, which takes place from April 20 to 23, 2020 in the Fira de Barcelona, has become a priority for exhibitors and trade visitors from all over the world, promoting trade exchanges and presenting gastronomy. Alimentaria 2020 strengthens its position on the Fira de Barcelona as an indispensable global meeting point for the sector.
With more than 110,000 m 2 of exhibition space, the event will take place next to Hostelco in order to offer the food and catering equipment industry a large platform for internationalization, trade and innovation.
Alimentaria 2020 aims to increase the level of internationalization of the last edition, which welcomed 4,500 exhibiting companies, including 1,000 from 70 countries, and around 150,000 visitors, 30% of whom were international, from 156 countries.
With the challenge of re-validating the more than 12,500 business meetings that took place in the previous edition of Alimentaria, the Hosted Buyers loyalty and invitation program selected 680 key buyers, importers and distributors from strategic countries on five continents to help them host the show can visit. The Alimentaria has also invited around 1,000 important Spanish buyers.
Canada, Japan , Brazil, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam are exhibiting for the first time at Alimentaria 2020 with their own pavilions. In addition, Italy, Germany, Portugal , Belgium, Greece, Romania, Poland, Morocco, the USA , Israel , Argentina, Ecuador , Colombia, China , Korea, Indonesia, Thailand and other countries will also have a significant presence.
The range of Alimentaria is divided into the areas Intercarn (meat), Interlact (milk products), Expoconser (preserves), snacks, biscuits & confectionery (sweets and snacks); Mediterranean Foods (Mediterranean diet, olive and vegetable oils) and Restaurama (gastronomy). These will also include the new Alimentaria Trends Show, which shows trendy sub-sectors such as Fine Foods, Organic Foods, Free From Foods, Halal Foods and Functional Foods. In addition, Grocery Foods will bring the major consumer goods companies together, international pavilions will bring all foreign suppliers together, while Lands of Spain will do the same for the national products of the different Spanish regions.
The trade fair activities will promote innovation in the industry and the interaction between the food, gastronomy and tourism industries with a focus on sustainability. With this in mind, the Experience Live Gastronomy event will offer a space for workshops, presentations and cooking shows with renowned chefs, all of whom are decorated with more than 30 Michelin stars. Similarly, the Alimentaria Hub area will be dedicated to innovation, knowledge and entrepreneurship, with congresses, conferences, short lectures and exhibitions.
