Seven events made the newswires this week, from metal fabrication halls in Hannover to a trauma surgery meeting in Dallas. Three are already over, two are running now, and two are still ahead: it-sa in Nuremberg next week and Black Hat Europe in London in December. Here’s what each one is and what got announced around it.
EuroBLECH 2026, October 20–23, Hannover Exhibition Grounds, Hannover
The sheet metal working fair is where fabrication equipment makers launch for Europe, and Bodor Laser came big. Its stand in Hall 13, booths A181 and A182, covers more than 1,400 square metres. The company says that makes it one of the five largest at the show and the largest of any Chinese exhibitor. Two tube laser cutters made their European debut there. One is a four-chuck series with fully floating chucks, built for heavy tubes. The other is a new double-chuck series that cuts, drills and taps on one platform, with an optional 14-position tool magazine and sensors that track weld seams and tube contours while it works. Next to them were sheet cutters up to 60 kW, an automated 12 kW line and robotic and handheld laser welders.
WETEX 2026, October 20–22, Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai
The 28th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition is organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority. DEWA’s international arm used it to sign four memoranda of understanding. With EDF it will look at solar, wind, battery storage and pumped hydro projects in the Middle East and beyond. China Energy International Group is lined up as a possible EPC partner, and Capital Dynamics as a co-investor in operating clean energy assets in Europe. Tata Consultancy Services would act as technical consultant on IT and operational technology. These are MoUs, so the commitments are to explore, not yet to build.
ASN Kidney Week 2026, October 22–25, Denver
The American Society of Nephrology’s annual meeting runs four days in Denver after early programs on October 21. Australian company Nutromics presented what it calls the first real-time measurements of creatinine in humans, taken by a DNA-based sensor patch worn by healthy volunteers. Creatinine is the standard marker for kidney function, and today it comes from blood draws hours apart, so continuous readings could flag kidney injury much earlier. The patch is investigational and not cleared by the FDA. The release gives no sample size or results beyond the claim itself.
Q+AI 3.0 + PQC 2026, October 25–27, New York
This three-day meeting brings together quantum computing, AI and cybersecurity people, with post-quantum cryptography as a named track. On Monday, October 26, Quantum XChange CEO Eddy Zervigon speaks on “The Great Crypto Migration”. The session covers finding vulnerable encryption, deciding which systems to fix first and why crypto-agility matters, which is the practical side of moving off algorithms a future quantum computer could break.
it-sa Expo and Congress 2026, October 27–29, NürnbergMesse, Nuremberg
it-sa is Europe’s largest IT security trade fair. Swiss vendor Exeon Analytics will show network detection and response for SAP systems and industrial environments there. Both are places where traditional endpoint tools see little and attackers can sit for a long time. Expect a heavy German Mittelstand and critical-infrastructure crowd, since NIS2 compliance is driving a lot of the buying.
Black Hat Europe 2026, December 7–10, ExCeL London, London
Black Hat returns to ExCeL London with trainings from December 7 and the Briefings, summits and Business Hall on December 9 and 10. It’s the European edition of the conference where new attack research gets its first public airing, and the trainings usually sell out ahead of the main days.
AAST 85th Annual Meeting, September 16–19, Dallas
One result came in late. At the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma meeting in Dallas, attendees voted HemoSonics’ Quantra System “Best Instrument”. Quantra uses ultrasound and a disposable cartridge to show at the bedside how a bleeding patient’s blood is clotting, from clot formation to strength to breakdown. In trauma care, that speed decides which blood products go in and when.
Next on the calendar are it-sa next Tuesday and the Q+AI crypto migration session the day before.
