2018 Canton Tower Science and Technology Conference Concluded Successfully

October 18, 2018 By EventCalendar.net

Artificial intelligence is a strategic technology that leads the future. This has formed a consensus around the world. From October 11th – 12th, the “2018 Canton Tower Science and Technology Conference – Global Mobile Developers Conference and Artificial Intelligence Leadership Summit”, jointly organized by IDG China and the Guangzhou Science, Technology and Innovation Commission, was held in Guangzhou, making China an important innovator and a strong development engine for artificial intelligence in the world.

The theme of the conference was “Go! Build the World”. One of the highlights was, with the industrialization of artificial intelligence as the focus, to comprehensively interpret how artificial intelligence technology empower the development of this era and promote industrial development.

Distinguished Guests Gather and Share Visions

The application status and development prospects of artificial intelligence in various fields were the focus of attention.

On the morning of the 11th, the opening ceremony and theme forum of “2018 Canton Tower Science and Technology Conference: The Artificial Intelligence Industrialization Leadership Summit” officially kicked off.

As one of the organizers of the conference, Orient Zhu, vice president of IDG Asia, said in his speech that Guangzhou is not only a major IT town and a technology center but also a pioneer in the field of artificial intelligence. It has plans and goals in this field. Along with the in-depth development of the IAB plan, it has achieved phased results. “I hope more people can see the development opportunities in Guangzhou and come to Guangzhou to pursue business success. Also, I hope Guangzhou can share experiences and work together,” said Zhu.

Yan Shuicheng, Vice President and Dean of AI Research Institute of 360, said in the speech “Collaborative Intelligence Talks” that many people advocate that artificial intelligence may affect people’s work, but the core value of artificial intelligence is not to replace humans, but to help them become more powerful through the collaboration of human and computers.

Founder and CEO of Aibee, Lin Yuanqing, gave a speech on the theme “Enhance the Traditional Industry, Polish the Ultimate AI Technology”. He believes that polishing the ultimate AI technology is not only the realization of AI technology but also the necessary path for technology development. This is because AI technology has to be applied to industry and get massive data from applications. This is the inevitable road for AI technology – development and application are complementary and indispensable.

Zhou Bowen, Vice President of Jingdong Group and Head of AI Platform and Research Department, said in his speech that in the future, the ability to harvest artificial intelligence results in mainstream business is an important standard in judging the world winners and losers. The systematic deployment of artificial intelligence in the whole retail chain will overturn the entire retail industry in the industry’s fourth revolution. All links of the retail industry can benefit from artificial intelligence and be reconstructed by it.

Many entrepreneurs exchanged views about the application of artificial intelligence. They were James Shen, Vice President and Managing Director of Qualcomm Ventures; Zhou Wei, Partner at Sequoia Capital China; Hu Bofeng, Member of Investment Committee of Gold Stone Investment; Tom Luan, Founding Partner and President of Hosen Capital; Frances Du, Founding Partner of Jiangmen Venture; Gu Jiawei, Co-founder and CEO of Wuling Technology; Jia Wei, Chairman of LKKER Innovation Design Group, Founder of LKKER Shared Design Platform; Tiger Shen, Co-founder and CEO of Singulato; Liu Wei, Chairman of PCI; Jahan Ghofraniha, Professor of San Jose State University, USA; and Mikkel Westenholz, Managing Director of ENFOR, Denmark.

Admiration for Cross-Field Pioneers and the Best Products of the Year

With the rapid development and application of emerging technologies, if existing industrial fields and factor resources are integrated to achieve extension or breakthroughs in the industrial value chain and increasingly blur industrial boundaries, it will make cross-field integration of the world a major trend in industrial development, and thus spawn a large number of new formats and new models. In a sense, to succeed in cross-field integration, companies must rely on excellent cross-field talents.

On the evening of the 11th, IDG and Interface – Interviews jointly held the “Ten Multilaterally-Developed Talents 2018” selection event and announced the 10 industry representatives who completed a complete transformation within 3 years. Zhou Xi, founder of Yuncong technology, used to be a scientist focusing on technology before establishing his artificial intelligence company which yields success after success; Shen Haiyan, Singularity Car Founder & CEO, jumped out of the Internet field and successfully entered the car industry; Ren Quan, the founding partner of Star VC, used to be an actor and later turned to the venture capital industry; Lin Yilun, the founder of the Fanye, achieved the change from the stage to the stove, from the singer to the host, then to “Jiang Ren”; Shu Wei, CEO of Zaozuo, crossed her field from internet industry to household furniture, creating beautiful things along the way; Qu Kai, founder of 42 chapter, changed from VC to content creation; Fan Bing, founder of the Growth Research Institute, changed from a software developer to a marketing expert; Chen Chi, the founding partner of Xiaozhu Short-rent resigned from nursing and turned to the field of the Internet. Zhu Dongfang, Vice President of IDG Asia, presented the awards to these ten.

In addition, the conference also hosted the exciting ceremony for Canton Tower the Best Awards. The selection was based on the standards of innovation, efficiency and leadership. TEDxJNU Fall Conference: Use the Power of Ideas to Change the World

The Canton Tower Science and Technology Conference brought together the world’s “smartest brains”. It was not only a grand event of artificial intelligence industry, but also a grand meeting of thoughts. The development of science and technology, as well as thoughts, have no borders. The TEDxJNU special event sponsored by IDG World Expo was held at InterContinental Hotel on the 12th. The representatives of science, culture, art, aerospace and other fields were invited to share, which allowed TED fans and audiences from different backgrounds to learn from each other. The sparkle of thoughts and opinions, not only takes place in the laboratory and the studio, but also at this conference.

With the successful completion of various agendas on October 11th and 12th , the 2018 Canton Tower Science and Technology Conference was successfully concluded.
