MAGHREB PHARMA Expo 2018 is an annual exhibition held in Algeria that contributes to business meetings between suppliers of the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector (machinery, ingredients, packaging, sterile rooms, engineering services, air treatment, services regulatory and training) and North African pharmaceutical manufacturers and investors.
Originally created to follow the amazing development of the capabilities of Algerian pharmaceutical production, this show has become an international event and the largest exhibition and conference on pharmaceutical technology in Africa. Having represented a market of more than 3.7 billion US dollars in 2017, Algeria is now officially ranked as the largest African pharmaceutical market in terms of value (according to BMI Research) and the country has grown in five years by 25% more than 60% of locally manufactured pharmaceuticals.
The organizer of MAGHERB PHARMA Expo, Olivier-Hicham Allard , himself a pharmacist training industry, explains: ” The goal of MAGHREB PHARMA Expo is to promote local pharmaceutical manufacturing to give autonomy to African countries in making it less dependent on the importation of medicines. African countries have the human resources, skills and capacity to run plants capable of providing at least 80 % of their pharmaceutical needs. The ‘import-export’ business model is a thing of the past and we hope that local investors and large pharmaceutical companies will hear the message that the time has come to invest and build pharmaceutical factories in Africa . ”
Each year, the event is a source of locally signed contracts worth tens of millions of US dollars in new manufacturing and construction projects. This is due to the concept of “one-stop shop” of the show, as Olivier-Hicham Allard explains : ” If you have the financial capacity and the technical team around you to do it, you enter MAGHREB PHARMA Expo the first day and you to go out on the third day with a factory concept. It’s that simple. Whether generics, biotechnology, food supplements or even dermocosmetic, all suppliers are there and have the ‘ habit of working in Africa “.
MAGHREB PHARMA Expo 2018 will take place from September 17th to 19th at the Parc des Expositions in Algiers . More than 2,500 trade visitors and pharmaceutical decision-makers from North and West Africa will meet 210 exhibitors from 28 countries over 9,000 m² and will be able to attend 35 high-level conferences free of charge.
