First China International Import Expo 2018: Hanergy showcases its innovative thin film solar products

November 13, 2018 By EventCalendar.net

The world’s largest thin-film power solution company, Hanergy Thin Film Power Group (00566.HK), recently participated in the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2018 as the only invited renewable energy company. A six-day expo import fair, CIIE was held at National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, China from Nov. 5-10, attracting more than 3,000 companies across sectors from over 130 countries to showcase their products and commodities.

The first of its kind expo, China International Import Expo (CIIE), part of the efforts to demonstrate the importing potential of the world’s second-largest economy, logged around US$57.83 billion worth of deals during the one-week event.

As a matter of great pride, and a clear testament to Hanergy’s leadership position in the global thin film solar industry, Hanergy was the only new energy company invited to participate in the expo along with its subsidiaries, including Germany-based company Solibro and US-based companies MiaSolé, Global Solar Energy and Alta Devices.

At the expo, Hanergy and its four subsidiaries demonstrated the complete industrial chain of thin film solar energy technologies’ research and development, equipment manufacturing, component production and diversified market applications.

Amongst the innovative thin film solar products showcased by Hanergy were HanTile, a solar power generating tile which can be placed on the rooftop; HanWall, an innovative BIPV product which can be installed on skyscrapers as curtain wall and provides electricity to the buildings; and Humbrella, a thin-film solar powered umbrella providing clean, free and consistent electricity to people in energy-scarce areas of the world. Moreover, HanPack, a solar drone and a solar car were other major exhibits.

Lv Yuan, Vice President of Hanergy Thin Film Power Group, said, “We’re honored to be the only renewable energy exhibitor at CIIE 2018 and be the focus of the world’s attention. Products with green cleaning and environmental protection concepts are constantly gaining popularity. Motivated by the upward trend in the demand and cognizance of the solar products, we’ve acquired the thin film technology from all over the world to bring it to China and subsequently introduced it in the international market. We’re committed to make thin-film solar technology a real ‘green’ solar technology that benefits all and gradually achieve the great mission, change the world with thin-film solar, and build mobile energy.”

Hanergy’s three advanced pieces of equipment that generated wide attention and interest from the public were the Solibro copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) thin film coating machine, MiaSolé RC roll coating equipment and Alta 6×6 Shower Head. Among the three, the CIGS thin film coating machine is the core component of Solibro’s whole production line with characteristics of multisource co-evaporation and vacuum coating. MiaSolé RC roll coating equipment is the core component for making battery chips. It is the only CIGS one-stop winding magnetron sputtering coating equipment in the world. Alta 6×6 Shower Head is suitable for processing 3MW MOCVD equipment of GaAs flexible thin film photovoltaic cells, which plays a vital role in the process of film deposition growth.

At present, Hanergy has 5 world-leading thin film solar technology roadmaps and high-end equipment manufacturing capabilities such as copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) and gallium arsenide (GaAs). Not only does Hanergy have advantages of technological breakthroughs and technology upgrade capability of equipment but also has a lower cost compared to the industry.

It is estimated that in 2020 the conversion rate of CIGS battery of Hanergy will increase by 3% to 5%, and the cost will decrease by more than 40% compared with 2018. Meanwhile, the conversion rate of GaAs single junction battery will increase by 3% to 5% with the cost being reduced by more than half. In addition, Hanergy has established a global supplier system both domestically and globally, with at least two qualified suppliers of key equipment.
