On September 19, 2018, the Sino-Foreign Whole Grains Industry Development Experts Forum was successfully held in Shanghai. The forum was hosted by Yangufang Whole Grains Co., Ltd., a leading grain company in China. It was attended by the Chinese Nutrition Society, Whole Grains Council, Chinese Cereals and Oils Association food branch, Jiangnan University, Jiangnan University Food institute, National Food Administration Research Institute, Peking University Nutrition, Shanghai Nutrition Society, Beijing Nutrition Society, and Jiangsu Nutrition Society.
The forum centered on topics such as “Whole Grain Feeding and Prevention and Control of Chronic Diseases, Clinical Application of Whole Grain Nutrition, Whole Grain Feeding and Great health Industry”. Invited to the forum were Dr. Yao Huiyuan, a member of the National Food Security Policy Expert Advisory Committee, Honorary President of Chinese Cereals and Oils Association Food Branch, and the first dean of the College of Food Science in Jiangnan University; Dr. Hou Guoquan, Chief Technology Officer of Grain Food, SPC Group; Academician Liu Ruihai, Professor of Food Science, Cornell University; Kelly Toups, Nutrition Director, US Whole Grains Council; Chen Wei, Vice President of Jiangnan University; Liu Yuanfa, Dean of the Food College of Jiangnan University; Ma Xin, Lifestyle Medicine and Health Care Industry Planning Management Expert, Doctoral Supervisor of Baylor College of Medicine, Education Minister Jiang Scholar Jury; He Junguo, Vice President of Chinese Cereals and Oils Association Food Branch, Chairman and CEO of Yangufang Group; and other Chinese and foreign whole grain experts. The meeting had representatives from the “Government, Industry, Research and Research Fund” and set off a wave of joint efforts to develop healthy whole grains, and became a milestone meeting for prevention and control of chronic diseases in whole grains.
At Expert Round table forum, the experts discussed the “State and Trend of Whole Grain Development in The World” and “How to Eat Whole Grains”, sharing their great health background and promotion experience. The conference launched the “Whole Grain Experts Union” to provide expert scientific research support for industrial development and to promote the development of the whole grain industry.
At the afternoon summit forum, Kelly Toups shared the development status and trends of whole grain foods in the North American market. Dr. Hou Guoquan introduced new technologies for whole grain processing and R&D ideas, bringing new inspiration to the development of whole grains. Liu Ruihai, shared the relationship between whole grains and health and the opportunities and challenges of industrial development. Liu Yuanfa talked about whole grains and the concept of food health. Ma Xin shared the characteristics and advantages of lifestyle medicine. Chen Chen, director of Yangufang Group Food and Feeding Center, explored the market application prospects of whole grains through a whole grain-based feeding model. The experts also started a dialogue on the “Clinical Significance of Whole Grains” and conducted an on-the-spot Q&A.
The Sino-Foreign Whole Grains Industry Development Experts Forum is the top conference in the whole grain industry. It is held once a year to build an industry exchange learning platform and an industry alliance, and promote the integration of Chinese and foreign whole grain industries.
